“Netherlands-Georgia relations”

On November 9, the twelfth meeting of the Diplomacy Week was held, chaired by Ms. Maike Van Koldam.

Since 2019, he has been the Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Kingdom of the Netherlands to Georgia. Ms. Maike Van Koldam has many years of experience working in government agencies, as well as in international organizations in Georgia, as well as in Austria, Russia, Ukraine, Chile, etc.

The topic of the meeting was: “Netherlands-Georgia relations”.

During the conversation, the Ambassador focused on the areas of cooperation with Georgia, which are a priority today, in particular, economy, culture, transport, financial and military directions. He noted that strong economic relations have been established between the countries and investments are being made in important areas such as energy, finance, infrastructure and others. The Kingdom of the Netherlands provides significant assistance to Georgia in matters such as: strengthening the rule of law and protecting human rights; Promoting security and stability; Promoting the strengthening of peace processes; Improving governance, etc. The Ambassador also spoke about the involvement of the Netherlands in the framework of the European Union Monitoring Mission in Georgia (EUMM). The meeting aroused considerable interest among the students, and many questions were asked, including about the Ambassador’s diplomatic experience; To share the example of the Netherlands as a successful country and the potential of agriculture and agrarian sector in Georgia; Education opportunities and exchange programs.

The project “Diplomacy Week” is dedicated to the Day of Georgian Diplomacy, which is celebrated on November 3. Meetings will be held within the project by Georgian and foreign diplomats.
